Life like a video game

Recently I had a dream that I was in a live video game and I was getting overwhelmed at trying to keep up with all the moves while there were some people making fun of me and some others looking back at my past as if that still defined me, trying to bring attention to the way they thought I was previously. This was a very interesting dream to me as I do often feel like that. Part of that is mental health stigma which is something I feel passionate about breaking.

I saw something written the other day about the need for us all to view each other as God sees us and who he sees us becoming not who people think we are. Another thing I heard once is that people view us the way they need to for their purposes so how someone else sees you might have a lot less to do with you then you think.

I also heard an interesting explanation the other day about hsp personalities and how they need to function in life to be their best and it makes sense why in that dream I was stressed about trying to play the game fast enough, because some of us are designed to feel deeply but can’t be our best if we are put under the expectations that the non hsps run under which is 80% of the population.

As a younger me I used to like playing computer games like lemmings, where you had to get them through the terrain safely and they would just follow where you made a path. So how many of us like to have a path made for us that we can follow through without thinking and how many of us are prepared to challenge our thoughts or direction and make new paths rather then accepting the paths that others say are the answer to our destination?

The other night I saw a movie on tv and its message was confirmed a couple of days later in a conversation with someone that runs a gymnastics studio in real life and experienced similar types of issues. It was a show about gymnasts that were training and competing to get to the Olympics. In the show there was a girl that was feeling judged by people, she mentioned that she was in the same championship but was now a totally different champion. She was being judged by a standard of perfection that was not real. In the competition they would take points off their performance for trivial things so the athletes decided to rebel and scratch the performance on purpose. So one after the other they did things on purpose to sabotage their score, they made rock symbol gestures with their hands and did dance moves that offended the judges. The girl in the movie was thinking I wish someone would just say your not crazy and I’m proud of you and Ive got your back no matter what. As she thought that her coach come up and said to her I am proud of you.

This movie described in a narrative the experience I have had with the stigma over mental health. I believe God is training special gymnasts and dancers in the spirit at the moment that will break peoples mindsets over how they believe he works, that he will raise up the ones society judges as not doing things the right way and put them on a platform to with gold medals of his approval.

My experience with a broken mental health system and broken mindsets causing stigma on this topic is being experienced throughout Australia, I’m not the only one. So either you have experienced this, you know someone who has or you are one of the people causing it. Whichever one you are you know what you need to do about it?

I know at least 4 close friends who have taken their life because of a failed health system and I know that I and others in my friend circles have come close to being one of those statistics.

If you are not willing to be part of the solution to change then at least don’t contribute to the problem, that is what I would like to say to those in positions of influence in this topic in Australia, the doors will open wide to those willing to stand up for those who cannot speak for themselves on this issue.
